SUMMARY:Nights with the Museum: Past\, Present\, and Future - Bridging Memory and Modernity at the Museum of Riverside
DESCRIPTION:Are there really tunnels under the downtown Museum site? How do you demolish old additions without collapsing a historic building? Bring all your questions about the main Museum construction project to our experts! The Museum’s architects will look at the evolution of the current home of the Museum of Riverside\, and share interesting discoveries made during the design and ongoing construction processes. Find out about the process of preserving beloved features of the historic building and revealing features you didn’t know were there. The architects at Perkins Eastman have many historic preservation successes to their credit\, including the major rehabilitation of the Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles. Their work is laying the foundation for the Museum of Riverside’s future! \nStephanie Kingsnorth is Principal and Executive Director at Perkins Eastman\, a global design firm. She has a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Washington and is FAIA\, NCARB-certified and LEED-accredited. \nMelissa Boudreau is an Associate at Perkins Eastman. She has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Virginia Tech.
