About the Tour

“Behind the Black Veil” tours of the Heritage House are offered every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October during regularly scheduled tours. This years tours will run from October 2 to November 8, 2026. These tours reveal how the Victorians mourned their dead. Experience the parlor set up for a wake, postmortem pictures, hair jewelry, and other signs of mourning. Learn how some tried to communicate with the dearly departed.  From seances to the belief in receiving messages and exchanging words with the spirits of the dead, Victorian spiritualism was a fascinating and common practice in the late 1800s.
